As stated in the introduction, the original hikers were members of the Avenue House Venture Scout Unit.
In due course this became the Avenue House Service Team.
Eventually the criteria for attendance became that one had to have been Scouting in the District of Finchley, Friern Barnet and Golders Green.
The District has now been merged with Hendon & Edgware and Barnet Districts to form the new Barnet Borough District; pending confirmation from the senior members I assume that this replaces F2BG2 as the qualifying area.
Although there has never been any discrimination the AHST still awaits its first female hiker.
Whether this becomes more or less likely as time goes on is open for debate.
